Brock Counselling

What to Expect

Why should you have to wait to be the best version of yourself?

Starting therapy

This is the hardest part! You’ve already accomplished so much just by being here.

Therapy starts with an initial phone consultation to discuss individual needs, as well as explore fit. Connection with a therapist is important and integral for working toward change.
This connection will begin to be explored during the phone consultation.

Initial appointment

During this appointment, your therapist will spend time getting to know you and discussing your goals for therapy. Goals can be determined solely by you, or in collaboration with your therapist. This appointment requires you to bring nothing, other than a willingness to participate. Some clients like to bring a notebook to help them remember important information to discuss in session, or to jot down take-aways during the session.

Therapy sessions

At the end of the initial appointment, you and your therapist will discuss frequency of sessions, as well as a plan for future sessions. Therapy is not a “one size fits all.” Sessions are tailored to your individual and family needs. As you begin to heal, the frequency may change, giving more time in between sessions to allow you to utilize skills and begin to cope. It is difficult to determine how many sessions you will need as all healing journeys look different; however, in collaboration with your therapist,

a path will be created that makes sense for you.

Termination of services

Termination is a natural part of the therapy process and allows an opportunity for closure. While there are many reasons for termination, at any point, if the client or therapist do not feel that sessions are beneficial to the client; a discussion of termination will occur. There will be an opportunity in collaboration with your therapist, to explore initial goals and personal growth through the duration of therapy.
