FAQs

What is Trauma Therapy?

Trauma therapy is a specialized service designed to target specific symptoms brought on by a single situation or a series of events. Our trained therapists employ evidence-based techniques and a compassionate approach to guide you through the healing process. Whether you’re dealing with acute or chronic symptoms, historical trauma, or other challenging experiences, our trauma therapy services are here to

support your journey towards recovery and resilience.

Trauma refers to distressing experiences that overwhelm an individual's ability to cope, leading to emotional, psychological, and even physical distress. In these moments even the most neutral stimuli may be met with agitation, frustration, anxiety and other distressing symptoms. Trauma can significantly impact our day-to-day functioning, as well as our ability to manage even the smallest tasks. These manifest in symptoms such as anxiety, low mood, intrusive thoughts, hypervigiliance, increased arousal, and physiological disturbances.

Trauma therapy and counselling are very similar. Both begin with talking and listening; however, at a certain point, trauma therapy will begin targeting the specific material that is upsetting you or getting in the way of your daily functioning.

Individual therapy sessions are billed at $165, and family and couples therapy sessions are billed at $190. Sessions are 50 minutes in length. Sessions are paid for at the end. Payment is accepted in the form of credit card and electronic transfer of funds. Clients submit the receipt to their insurance for reimbursement. It is always a good idea to speak with your insurance provider about coverage. All detailed information about the therapist’s credentials will be listed on the receipt.

No. However, many private insurance plans cover some or all of the fees. Please check your insurance plan to determine your coverage. You may also be eligible to claim psychotherapy session fees on your tax return.

Yes, therapy and counselling services are confidential, and your privacy is prioritized. Information shared during sessions is protected by the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), ensuring a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist.

In order to protect your privacy, video therapy is provided using a Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)-compliant platform. Please visit the following website for more information:
