Learn to Change How You Think and Act in Crisis

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is a skills-based form of psychotherapy that explores:

  • How you THINK about yourself, others, and the world (your thoughts); and  
  • How WHAT YOU DO (your behaviours) affects your thoughts and feelings.

Did you know that it is not the situation that is making you think and act a certain way? But rather, it is the “meaning that you attach to the situation.” CBT is a great way to learn how to change how you think and change how you act. These changes can lead to your feeling better. While other therapies can explore your history and past, CBT focuses on improving your health and well-being in the present moment.

CBT typically lasts 12-20 weeks, or 3-6 months, depending on the frequency of sessions. The length of treatment varies depending on the severity and complexity of an individual’s concerns and issues. The foundational skills of the model are introduced in the first few therapy sessions, so you will be given the opportunity to utilize learned strategies to reduce symptoms early on in treatment.
